Slidell Church
Slidell Church was organized in 1972.
Faithful people wanted to start a church in their city for a long time. With the help of Pastor James Herman, they began the process of forming the Slidell Seventh-day Adventist Church.
In December 1971, a small group met with Pastor Herman to choose leaders for the Sabbath School and church. By January 29, 1972, they rented a building, the First Assembly of God church on Nellie Drive, to hold weekly services, with about 20 people attending.
The church was officially organized on March 25, 1972, with 21 members. This took place at the First Baptist Church on Robert Street, where the first member, Douglas Estey, was also baptized. Some of the founding members included Sam and Connie Danese, Mavis Dean, the Estey family, the Griffin family, the Lawrence family, and others who joined through letters of transfer.
